The love of vintage; when you see something vintage you know it. It has a weight and a feel of patina. Even when the color has faded, you can tell the color was rich and deep once upon a time. You can tell the workmanship was lush with quality and detail. You can hold it in your hand and feel the weight of the quality.

The love of vintage has always been with me. Tattered and worn they might be, but they all have that certain something that shouts to me of mystery and stories of things that have happened and places they have been. When you see something vintage you know it. It has a weight and a feel of patina. Even when the color has faded, you can tell the color was rich and deep once upon a time. You can tell the workmanship was lush with quality and detail. You can hold it in your hand and feel the weight of the quality. Even their plastics such as Bakelite weighed more than modern plastic. What kind of vintage do you collect? I collect two distantly different eras; the early century 1900 to 1940’s for textiles and mid century 1940 to 1960s for china. I love the mid century modern atomic era china. There were rocket cars and houses with fins on them. The china has sculptural lines and the colors; pink and turquoise and cream and bright uranium reds. There is a lushness to the finish and the colors that invites both your eye to linger and your hands to touch. The 1920’s and 1930’s were a time of gorgeous draped fabrics and art deco styling. They had sensuous bias cut clothing worn by motoring women with snappy dialog and brill creamed boyfriends.
